For YOU. . . .
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less travelled by”
                                                                                                -Robert Frost

These lines are said by Robert Frost in his poem ‘The Road Not taken’. I’m sure by now you must be thinking why I’m telling you this. This is one of my favourite lines, which tells that you don’t have to take the road which is travelled by all but something which is less travelled, to explore something new. At the same time I’m aware of one more fact, we can’t walk on some road until we can see it.
Nowadays, choosing a career is not less than the multiple roads available but us being unaware about them. Most of the times, we just follow herd, like sheep.  Blindly! But that’s not how things work. We should know what we like, what interest us most, and accordingly which profession would suit us best.
At the same time, we cannot say anyone wrong for this confusion. Our parents help us with all the knowledge they have in best possible way. And, we as kids are mostly unaware of most of the things, sometimes unaware of ourselves too. It’s not at all easy to know ourselves.
We all have few questions from ourselves and the most important one is  “What I want to be ?”

There are lot of fascinating things which comes across and at the same time some of them are just something made up, which do not even exist, like becoming Batman or Spiderman.
At the same time there are few things which exist and we’re totally unaware of them.

If I talk about myself, when I was a kid I wanted to be everything! I wanted to be Prime Minister and President at the same time. As soon as I was growing, my interests were also changing drastically. Then I wanted to be a soldier, and then police officer. Then I landed up on Air hostess and then came to something realistic which was doctor. And finally, I ended up opting subjects for Chartered Accountant.
I thought Air hostess is not realistic. Though sound like a joke to now, one on which I can laugh multiple times. Ok let’s take a quick look what all professions we are aware about?

Actor / Actress
Artist
Banker
Chartered Accountant
Doctor
Engineer
Pilot

I can’t think of more which I was aware about when I was a kid. Few I got to know when I cleared my 12th and had to pursue something.
Selecting a career nowadays is not less than a gamble. A gamble for lifetime! We can’t afford to lose, but if we lose we can’t find ourselves too after it.
Therefore, me Shina Kalra and Shekhar Gupta came to this conclusive idea to make sure none of you are confuse when you think what you want to be.
We got this book with all the possible options along with how you can go about them. What you really need to think and what exactly you have to do. At the same time, I’m sure some of you would be like Shekhar, sure from his childhood that he wants to be a Pilot. But I’m even more sure more than half the population will be in my boat confused, messed and unsure of what you want to be or inconclusive with lot of things in your head but can’t come up to one things which you think is yours.
Trust me on one thing, it’s completely okay to be unsure but that’s the thing which will help you explore and know yourself and pursue what keeps you happy.
Thinking from head is important but nevertheless without your heart you cannot survive. Make sure both go hand in hand or both go in same direction.
We both certainly going to help you with this journey but we can just show you the road, you have to travel yourself. So before I end just want to tell you all one thing, everyone always say just go with the flow but I always questioned one thing why? Fish doesn’t go with the flow until its dead then how can I?

**Don't be a dead fish and go with the flow, live your life and make your own flow!**

Career Counselling Service for Class 10th [SK]
It is important to understand that choosing a Career is a continuous procedure and a student must choose a Career at every step of the way. Whether you are deciding a stream in class 11, whether you are contemplating what course to  pursue in college, whether you are deciding to pursue a post graduate degree,  or whether the student is planning on what Career profile to get into.
Therefore, one can follow the following steps to choose a Career:
In the first instance, Evaluate Your Capabilities.
• What are you good at?
• What are your strengths?
• What is your aptitude?
• What is it that you do that doesn’t require unnecessary additional effort
and you succeed in or perform that task quite naturally with much ease?
Career Counselling helps in a lot of ways, like:
Selecting suitable stream as per the student’s interest and capacity
Planning a Career growth map
College guidance
Admission Counselling and procedures
Overseas consultation
Personality development
If   you are not quite sure of your inherent strengths & capabilities, then it  is very important that you take an aptitude test and personality test to know your true potential.
Secondly, draw a flow chart of your academic qualifications and compare it  with the options available with you in the market.
Third, match / connect your capabilities with your academic status. A person can choose from a myriad of Careers related to his/her stream. But not all of  these Careers will be the best fit Career for an individual. This is because  each Career option requires different aptitude and personality combinations.
That is why, it is important to connect one’s own capabilities with ones academic qualifications. This can be a little tricky as even though one may be  able to figure out one’s aptitude and personality through psychometric tests like aptitude testing and personality assessment, however, it becomes quite a task to match ones strength with the requirements of the hundreds of Career  options available in the market.
Each study field, whether it be Medical, Engineering, Arts, etc, is further segmented into 10’s if not 100’s of different subcategories. If that’s not  tough enough, a student has no tools at his / her disposal to guide him to make the right choice for their future.
Hence, Career Counselling is extremely helpful and MUST be taken seriously during a student’s school days.

Career Options After Class 12th [CSG]

Now that your Class 12 exams are over, You may be finding yourself at the crossroads, with no idea on which way to turn. It's about making or more appropriately choosing your future career/life. Choosing the right course and college is the first step in chalking the career plan.

It's crucial since after the choice is made, there will be no turning back. But the problem is there are numerous options open for students and persuasions coming in from all directions, making choice of all the option is more challenging task. To get rid off the dilemma you can consult expert and seek their opinion.
Counselling may also help. We have the details on what are the career options available for students pursuing higher education after class 12 Board examinations.
At this point of time, Most of you must be calling your friends and asking them which course are they planning to pursue and from which college. If you are doing this. Just Stop. Ask this to yourself not your friend that "What do you want to do in future?". Asking yourself this question will better help you in making the right decision for your life. Pursue that course in which you have interest. Just because your friend is pursuing a particular course does not mean that you also have to pursue that course only. This is the very important decision that a student has to take in his life.
When it comes to career options after 12th, there are a wide range of options that you can choose from provided you scored good marks in class XII. While some of you might take up academics to build your career in the scholastic discipline, others might love to experiment with vocational courses after sorting through a wide range of career alternatives. Choices in the professional field include technical courses like engineering and architecture. It is important that students choose a suitable stream in class 12 to ensure that they are able to join the career of their choice after they complete the 12th grade. Very often students don’t know what career they want to take up and hence they choose a wrong stream in school. It is better to consult a career counselor before deciding on the subjects you take up in school. If you have humanities or arts background, you can qualify for a variety of creative courses as your career options after 12th. If you are planning further studies, take up a bachelor’s degree in any of the arts subjects. You could even learn a foreign language and aim for an interpreter’s job in the consulates and embassies. Some of the choices in this regard are French, Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese or Chinese. You can even prepare for the Indian Civil Service Examinations or State Civil Service Examinations. Besides these, there are courses in advertising, journalism, mass communication, media studies, business management, performing arts, travel and tourism and more. There are a lot of career options after 12th if you belong to the commerce stream. For instance, you can take up company secretary course, chartered accountancy, computer studies or even business management. When it comes to qualifying for chartered accountancy, you should be aware of the fact that every year only a marginal percentage of candidates qualify for these examinations. This is why a lot of students choose to do Bachelor’s of Commerce with a specialization in computers before going for CA degree. If you are a student from the science stream, there are actually hundreds of career options. You can do engineering in any streams such as mechanical, civil, metallurgy, computers, electronics, aeronautics, maritime and others. These are the options that require a combination of physics, chemistry and mathematics in class XII. For students aspiring to take up biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, agricultural or dairy science, medicine or dental studies, subjects such as biology, chemistry and physics are required in Class 12. One of the major advantages as to why students take up science is that they can switch to humanities or even commerce later on. Students after passing their 12th grade examinations can also take up vocational courses in the field of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing, computers, hotel management, hospitality management or business administration. One of the principal courses in demand these days is the MBA course – Master’s of Business Administration. Further, outside the ambit of schools and colleges, enthusiastic students can take up courses in fashion technology, jewelry design, aviation, radio jockey, packaging or industrial design. It is important to get into the career of your choice to ensure that you enjoy work.
